Welcome to Word of Fortune, the word game where luck meets logic! In Easy mode, each puzzle gives you one clever clue to crack a hidden five-letter word. Need help? Spin the wheel to reveal letters in their correct spots (up to three reveals). You’ve got two guesses to get it right. Crack the clue without spinning and you’ll earn the ultimate title: No Spin Genius.
Feeling brave? Flip on Hard Mode for a tougher test: every Hard puzzle contains three words (each with its own clue), and the words can be different lengths. This time, you get four letter reveals and three guesses. More challenge, more strategy, and bigger bragging rights if you pull it off.

Word of Fortune: A Clever Twist on Classic Wordplay
Word of Fortune blends the best of your favorite word games — the five-letter guessing of Wordle, the clue-driven thinking of the NYT Mini Crossword, and the letter-revealing thrill of Wheel of Fortune. It’s a fast, fun challenge for word lovers and clue chasers alike.
In Easy Mode, each puzzle begins with a short, clever clue to guide you toward a hidden five-letter word. Solve it using just the clue, or spin the wheel for up to three letters revealed in their correct spots.
For those craving more, Hard Mode turns up the difficulty: instead of one word, you’ll face three at once, each with its own clue and length. You’ll have just four spins and three guesses total to solve them all, with wheel reveals scattered randomly across the board.
The difficulty varies day to day. While some puzzles feel like a Monday breeze, others might leave you spinning. It’s generally easier than a crossword in Classic Mode, while Hard Mode offers a deeper test of logic and strategy. Your feedback helps us tune the balance and keep both modes sharp, fair, and fun, so don’t hesitate to let us know what you think!
Whether you’re sharpening your clue-solving skills for the NYT Crossword or just squeezing in a smart daily challenge, Word of Fortune is quick to play, satisfying to solve, and keeps your word brain in top form.
How to Play Word of Fortune
Easy Mode
Guess the hidden word by solving the clue. Each puzzle begins with a short hint to guide your thinking.
Need more help?
- Spin the Wheel (Up to 3 times) – Each spin reveals a letter in its correct position. Use them wisely!
- Make Your Guesses (Up to 2 tries) – Type in your word guess. It must be a 5-letter word (proper nouns are accepted).
- Win or Lose – Solve it within the spins and guesses to earn a performance title. If not, better luck next time!
Hard Mode
Ready for a bigger challenge? In Hard Mode, you take on three words at once, each with its own clue. Word lengths vary, so you’ll need sharp logic and flexible strategy.
Here’s how it works:
- Spin the Wheel (Up to 4 times total) – Each spin reveals a random letter in its correct spot on the board. The reveal could land in any of the three words.
- Make Your Guesses (Up to 3 tries total) – Enter your word guesses. They must be valid words of the right length. After each wrong guess, the board resets, and you won’t know which letters were correct. Only the letters revealed from the wheel remain visible.
- Solve All Three Words– To conquer Hard Mode, you must crack all three words within the limited spins and guesses.
