Today’s NYT Mini Highlights

I finished today’s Mini by Joel Fagliano super fast, and it felt like one of the easier Tuesday puzzles. I got through most of the Downs first, which opened up the grid quickly. The Across clues took me a little longer, but nothing was especially difficult. The duplicate "Piece of cake" clues were my favorite touch. Having one answer be CAKE and the other SLICE was a clever bit of wordplay that made me smile once it clicked. The only clue that slowed me down was CORES for "Centers of stars." I kept thinking of astronomy instead of the centers of celebrity "stars," so that took a moment. Overall, it was a light, enjoyable solve with a nice mix of satisfying clues and very little resistance.
